Gojo Station (Kyoto Municipal Subway) (五条駅 (京都市営地下鉄))

Gojo Station, located in Osaka-cho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, is a stop on the Karasuma Line, which is operated by Kyoto Municipal Subway. The station number is K10.

Station layout

Situated in the underground of the crossing between Karasuma-dori and Gojo-dori streets, this station has an island platform that serves two tracks. Two entrance/exit gates are provided--one on the north side and the other on the south side--but only the north entrance/exit gate is manned.

Gojo Station (Keihan) on the Keihan Main Line is located approximately 800 meters from this station. This distance is shorter compared to that between the subway Shijo Station and Keihan Shijo Station which is approximately 1,100 meters. The name of Gojo Station on the Keihan Line was scheduled to be changed to Kiyomizu-gojo Station within the fiscal 2008.

History

May 29, 1981: This station was established when the Karasuma Line started operating between Kitaoji and Kyoto.

April 1, 2007: PiTaPa (ICOCA) became usable.
